Based firmly on the traditional tale, but with some clever twists and turns along the way, this very original script packs in far more comedy than most other versions. In particular, three new visual comedy routines keep the principals involved who are back at the Palace/Village, rather than trying to bring these characters into the story where they don't belong.
Another ground-breaking aspect is that the early part of the storyline is told visually in the first few scenes, rather than the long opening narration in other scripts, who start the action when Rapunzel is already 18 and then run out of storyline half way through. This not only provides more visual impact and interest from the start, but also avoids having to resort to several scenes of "padding" in Act II.
Already proving extremely popular, this up-to-date new script contains some dramatic moments, whilst the laughs come thick and fast, courtesy of Dame Betty Bouffant (the Royal Hairdresser), her daft son, Teezy-Weezy and two idiotic, bungling thieves, Ruffy and Tuffy.
Whilst the scenery can be kept fairly straight forward, there are plenty of opportunities and suggestions for the more ambitious, whilst notes on simplified scenery are also included for smaller venues.
